While the size of the home is a straight forward calculation, heat load is bit more complex. There are internal heat loads and external heat loads. Internal variables include: people, appliances, light bulbs, TVs, computers, etc… External variables include sun exposure, type of materials the home is built from and it’s ability to keep external heat out (insulation, weather stripping, etc…).
